Children’s Church

NEW HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH is committed to strengthening families through the Sunday School class on Sunday mornings. We believe it is the primary responsibility of the parents to instruct their children in the ways of God; however, the church should be a place of support and help in this area. When children, for various reasons, have little opportunity to learn and know God, the Sunday School should be a place which provides this option. Children are a gift from God and will be the next generation to impact our society. We value each child and want to provide a loving and safe atmosphere where they may grow.

We use John Piper’s Desiring God curricula for the Sunday School classes. We currently have classes for ages 2 through 12, which is toddlers thru sixth grade. We chose this curriculum because of its emphasis on God’s character and our relationship to God. It is excellent material which provides a take home support paper for parents to use during the week. Memorizing Bible verses is strongly encouraged through this material. We want to emphasize the importance of appreciating and valuing God’s Word at a young age. Children that are junior high or high school age stay with their families on Sunday mornings to hear God’s Word, but meet in their own small groups during the week.

One other important commitment NHCC has concerning children is to pray for the children. Each teacher is encouraged to pray for the individual children in their class every week. The church leaders meet twice weekly and pray for the children and their families. We desire people of all ages, which include our children, to bring glory to God by coming to know and love Him.
