NHCC is interested in understanding what God is accomplishing in our world and participating in His redemptive work as a part of His global church. This particular portion of our website is meant to be a means by which we can build our knowledge base concerningĀ  often neglected aspects of church life. These include church history (and with it the development of Christian theology), the persecution of the church, and the current missiological trends.

And of course, maybe a few items that makeĀ  us laugh along the way.

Church History… better than sliced bread

olddoor

I realize history is a rather dull subject, and many who have studied it in school never intend to crack open a history book again. This attitude has contributed to the age of a population that does not know its roots. It doesn’t know where it’s been. A man said one time, “The only thing that men learn from history is that men never learn from history.” And the truth of the matter is, those who forget history must be condemned to repeat it.

Church history is important not merely to dominate your competition in your next Bible Trivia game, but it enables us to understand where we have been and where we are headed. The history of the Christian church has had her fair share of messy situations, and it is important that we understand these matters so that we can avoid unnecessary doctrinal divisions and disputes. The Church has also been victorious at times, thriving despite persecution and seemingly impossible odds. It is good and right to remember these things to keep us full of humility as well as hope.

Remember our brothers and sisters in chains…

It was not only in ancient times where people were tortured and murdered for their faith. It happens now. It is happening today. We have a responsibility, as fellow believers, to support those who are under persecution through prayer, resources, and writing letters on their behalf. For more information visit
